In this blog , I will try to give overview of data management and also I have prepared “Data Entities” sequence for finance modules which we can use to import major master data and also use for preparing “Master Data” template for collecting data from customer.

Let’s have overview of data management: Microsoft Dynamics 365 has a robust data management with list of data entities for each module which makes consultant’s life easy for data migration.

Navigate to Data Management workspace, here are major activities as functional consultant we need to perform:

1. Export Data
2. Import Data
3. Copy from Legal entity

1. Export Data: Click on data Export > Enter project name > Add data entities > Click Export

Note: This can help in two ways one in preparing this as data template to share with customer and to import data in same entity.

2. Import data: Click on data import> Enter project name > Add data entities > Format > Upload file> Click Import

Note: We can use export data for selected entities to have the template which we can use to import data in same data entity.

3. Copy in to Legal entity: Use this feature for copying data entity from one legal entity to another legal entity
