In this blog we will talk about a module which is very important but many of miss using that because our main focus is on core modules finance, SCM etc….This module offers many good feature or we can say it is a core module for whole Finance and operations application.
So, I have chosen few features from this module and I would recommend everyone of you to use this module to enhance user experience.
Let’s start and see few important features:
- KPI’s
We all know abut default dash boards available using power BI embedded but lets say we want to add new KPI for our analysis based on available “Entity Store” , so that can be done using Common Module > All KPIs > we can create new KPI based on available measures and also we can setup “Goals” base on fixed value or other measure. E.g. We want total revenue KPI as 10 % increment as Goal. So, we can do the same using this feature.

- Knowledge Articles
This feature helps customer to manage knowledge repository /base of all the activities or update features related to the D365 or business. Also, it allows customer to share or send across all required stakeholders. This also allows use to structure information, so that it is easy to manage information.
This feature can be used for educating users or broadcast information across organization.

- Excel Workbook designer
We all on Excel add in feature which we use for import or export data from respective modules screen, but many times end users complain that they need to add few fields every time by clicking on design every time.
So, they need a template as per their required list of fields so that they need not to add field again and again.
Now, this can be done using Workbook designer, Navigate to: Common > Office Integration > Workbook designer
Here you can find all the defaults data entities and you can add available field and design your own excel workbook which can be used for import of data for any user.

- Default Template
This feature helps us in downloading templates which are available in out of the box based on data entities. This can be circulated to customer to fill data or upload data.
Navigate to: Common > Office Integration > Workbook designer

- Record Template
This is also one of the important feature which can be used for make end users life easy by recording any master data creation and later use that as template which can easily save the time of end user also guide them for creating master.
This can be done for any screen in D365 but here I have taken example for Fixed asset master data creation.

Here are few links for the same for more info.
Surprise of the Blog:
Here is the surprise of the blog with a new feature where you can have “Orders and Remainder” quantity on product receipt screen.

Hi Ludwig, looks like this is deprecated for development in visual studio but it is still available in front end for business users. Having said that let me check more on this.
